Its warren of largely unspoilt streets
lead to such attractions as not one but two mazes - one on
the Common and one planted in the 1850s in Bridge End
Gardens that is a copy of the one at Hampton Court.
The beautiful Church of St Mary's, the
largest in Essex, is visible from many parts of this
wonderful market town and visitors from the 1500s would
recognise many of the imposing buildings in their original
glory.
